Yes the Red Sox are still discussing a trade involving Wil Myers, even with Mookie Betts already gone. The trade however is not based around bringing Myers to Boston. Cal Quantrill is the “centerpiece” of the trade.
Bobby Dalbec enters 2020 as the Red Sox third-ranked prospect behind newly acquired 2B/SS Jeter Downs and 19-year-old 1B Tristan Casas. He is however the most intriguing Red Sox prospect in Spring Training because he is expected to make his MLB debut at some point in this upcoming season.
C.J. Chatham is someone to keep an eye on this Spring Training. At 25-years-old, Chatham is a seasoned middle infielder that could provide value right away. Boston drafted Chatham in the second round of the 2016 draft. I could see Chatham playing a similar role as Brock Holt did for so many years.
There is a perception around Mookie Betts – that he did not want to be in Boston, which is not true. Mookie recognized that he is a generational talent and that he deserves to be paid a record amount of money.
Overall, these players could help make the 2020 season a little less miserable. They also could all help rebuild the Red Sox farm system is they can produce enough to be worthy of a trade. These one-year deals could really make next season much more enjoyable.
