Anibal Sanchez throws 7.2 no-hit innings in 2-0 victory over Cardinals in NLCS Game One

Anibal Sanchez

Anibal Sanchez took the ball in Game One for the Nationals and did not disappoint. While Scherzer (13 IP in Postseason) and Strasburg (15 IP in Postseason) will prepare for Games Two and Three respectively. Sanchez put up an Ace performance of his own as the duo gets some rest. Anibal threw SEVEN and 2/3 innings of no-hit baseball while hitting two batters and allowing a walk. He only needed 89 pitches through seven as he glided through the Cardinals lineup. He finally allowed a hit with two outs in the 8th and was pulled immediately after. Sean Doolittle came in for the four-out save.

The victory has set up the Nationals beautifully for the remainder of the series, as Scherzer (11-7, 2.92 ERA) will attempt to bring the series to 2-0 vs Adam Wainwright (14-10, 4.19 ERA) with Strasburg ready and waiting. Jack Flaherty, a budding ace will be the Nationals biggest challenge this series for a solid Cardinals pitching staff. Game Two will be Saturday, October 12th at 4:08 on TBS.

The Nationals offense struggled to capitalize all night, as Miles Mikolas was no push over either. The Nats left 13 runners on base. Fortunately for Washington, two runs were enough to escape with a win on Friday night. The series should be a good one following an unexpected pitchers dual in Game One.
