Red Sox well represented at All-Star Game

Chris Sale will be starting his third All-Star game in a row, the third person to ever accomplish this feat. Sale is a seven time All-Star (2012-2018) and has finished top five in the Cy Young voting every year from 2013-2017, in 2012 he finished 6th. Sale has always dominated through the first half and kind of run out of steam in August. Alex Cora has kept his innings down and looks to have this problem solved. 2018 may be the year for Sale to win a much deserved Cy Young.

The Red Sox will be well represented in the line-up as well. Mookie Betts will be leading off and playing RF appearing in his third All-Star game (2016-2018). J.D. Martinez will bat cleanup (4th) for the American League side in his second All-Star appearance. We should also see Mitch Moreland’s first at-bat in an All-Star game at some point. Here is the full starting line-up:

  1. Mookie Betts – RF
  2. Jose Altuve – 2B
  3. Mike Trout – CF
  4. J.D. Martinez – DH
  5. Jose Ramirez – 3B
  6. Aaron Judge – LF
  7. Manny Machado – SS
  8. Jose Abreu – 1B
  9. Salvador Perez – C

Like Sale, Kimbrel will be playing in his seventh All-Star game (2011-2014, 2016-2018). We should see him appearing at the back end with a potential save situation, though Mariners Closer Edwin Diaz has the best chance of getting a save opportunity.
